Masters of Psychological Research (MAPR) Students

Kaitlin Grelle – 2nd Year

I’m a second year MAPR student and also graduated from Texas State with my Bachelors in Psychology. My research includes Alzheimer’s disease and caregiver burden. My overall goal is to study early interventions and treatments for caregiver burden in hopes to better the quality of life of caregivers and individuals with Alzheimer’s. At present, my thesis research investigates the relationship between knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and caregiver burden. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé, trying new restaurants, going on hikes or working out, cooking, gardening, and playing with my dog and cat.

Tanya Herrera – 2nd Year

I am a second-year graduate student in the Master of Arts Psychological Research program at the Texas State University. I graduated from the University of Texas – San Antonio with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a minor in Biology. My main research interest is focused on finding the linkages between neuroscience and psychopathology. My secondary interest includes neuropsychology, specifically cognitive functions, related to human behavior. I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in Neuroscience. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, traveling, and spending time with my golden retriever, Navi.

Victoria Leyva – 1st Year

I am a first-year grad student in the MAPR program at Texas State University. I am currently working on a study regarding eating behaviors and body satisfaction rates with relation to acculturation and assimilation. Also had the privilege to present at Texas state’s undergraduate research conference and Psychology where I presented a project a new method of detecting alcoholism through alcohol preferences.

Tyler Le Blanc 

I am a Senior undergraduate student at Texas State University with a major in Psychology and a concentration in Pre-Medicine. My areas of interest include, but are not limited to: neurobiology, traumatic brain injury, and neuropsychology. After my undergraduate education, I hope to pursue a Medical School or a Master’s Program in a more specialized area of my interest.

Bliss Morvant 

I’m an undergraduate Senior majoring in Psychology and minoring in both Anthropology and Child Development. I plan to pursue a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology after I graduate.

Megan Shepard

I am a senior undergraduate psychology major with a minor in biochemistry. I am originally from Plano, Texas where I interned at a non-profit for adults with cognitive disabilities called My Possibilities. This experience and my grandfather’s battle with dementia inspired me to pursue a career in neuropsychology where I can help others affected by cognitive impairments and mental illnesses. I am currently helping lead the music and memory studies here at the Texas State Memory and Cognition Lab.
